How IRMAA works

You can appeal. If your income dropped because of a life-changing event (retirement or reduced work, marriage, divorce, death of a spouse, loss of income-producing property, or a pension change), file Form SSA-44 to ask SSA to use a more recent year. You can also dispute an incorrect tax figure SSA used.
Estimate your bracket with the IRMAA calculator.
