What the out-of-pocket limit covers

The limit applies to Part A and Part B covered services. Once you reach it, the plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the year. It does not include your monthly premium or Part D drug costs, which have their own limit.

Switching back is not always easy. If you leave Advantage for Original Medicare after your first year, many states let insurers use medical underwriting for a Medigap policy. Think about this before you drop Original Medicare.
You can change plans during open enrollment (through December 7), or between January 1 and March 31 if you are already in an Advantage plan.
